If I were to die tonight, I know that I would spend eternity with God in heaven without question. I know that because I understand his Word when it comes to salvation and the promise that Jesus has given to all of us, that faith in him, true faith in him, leads us to salvation, and lead us to that place. I mean, there’s just no question.

What do you appreciate about this church body?

I attended multiple denominations. And saw many different messages. And I can tell you that sets this denomination apart, what sets this group of people apart is they really understand salvation. They understand what it means to be saved. They understand how God works his salvation. They understand how to preach that message of salvation.

How do you know the Bible is true?

When you read his word and you understand his heart for you, and you see what he’s done for you, you see that he sent his son to die for you, in the most gruesome of ways. And you begin to understand that the Bible is his love story for us. And you come to the realization that you can do nothing but believe in the truth of the Bible - that there’s no alternative.

What has been your biggest struggle?

For me it really came down to, I believe the Bible is real or not. Is what God says real or not? Do I trust who God is? Do I trust what he says? And, it came down to submitting to him. And, submitting to his word and submitting to his will.

How did your wife's Lutheran faith impact you?

Initially, I was thinking that I was going to convert her. That yeah, I was the one with the masters in religious studies, I was the one who knew it all. I was who had the right idea of who God was. Looking back I realize how silly, how arrogant, how prideful I really was in that. How confident I was in my education, in my own ability to convince people, whatever.
