LWMS annual convention
Less than two weeks remain to register for the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society (LWMS) annual convention, one of the largest WELS events in the country. The 2010 convention will be held June 24-27 in St. Louis, Mo.; registration closes May 15.
Approximately 1,000 women will gather for worship, fellowship, and to learn more about the WELS missions they support. "Congregations and families benefit from your attendance at the convention," says Paula Danekas, president of the LWMS board of directors. "You will return to them refreshed, restored, renewed, and ready to carry out the mission of your congregation and synod: to proclaim the gospel message to all nations."
This year's theme, "Show me your ways, O Lord," will feature presentations about WELS mission fields in Africa, Nepal, and Japan. Attendees will also hear about mission planting and cross-cultural outreach in the United States. Other convention activities include workshops, devotions, Bible studies, and worship opportunities.
"My hope for the convention is that many will be present to learn what God has done and to share in the fellowship of Christ's love," says Danekas. "I pray that our Lord shows all attendees the way he wants them to serve Jesus."
